New To Detailing - Help!

After years of BMW ownership, I have finally aquired an E30 with a pretty decent paint job. I've learned a lot about proper car (the hard way) with my old E30 and I'm looking to start off right away by cleaning up my newly aquired car.

I've washed cars before and waxed a little too, but I'm looking for where to start with a brand new car. I'd like to get everything off the paint of the old car so I can start off with detailing the car the right way.

Who here can suggest a complete process from bottom up on how to really get this car sparkling. I don't see an FAQ, but by the history of CMT's posts, I vote for a nice FAQ/How-To on cleaning up a new car

If you all have specific suggestions as to specific products to use along the way, excellent. If not, I'm sure I'll find something that'll do.

In the end though, I've seen the pics of Chris's car (and other cars he has detailed) and that is what's brought me to ask the question on DTMPower.net. Thanks and I look forward to everyone's detailing wisdom.

I would recomend downloading and reading: http://www.autopia.org/display.php?f...oks.htm&menu=4 It's an E-book that pretty much covers everything. You have to register to view all of it, but it doesn't cost anything and you don't get spam and all that. But the general process goes:

Wash
Clay

Polish
Sealant
Wax
