| Critique my SMR Method (Didn't Work) Over the winter I picked up a PC and some more products to get myself ready for this season. I usually don't frequent the detailing forum here and I've noticed that some of my products are different than the ones usually recommended here so bear with me. Anyways, about 3 weeks ago I set aside a day to go to work on my car, 96 boston green. I try to take great care of it but the paint had some serious swirls and oxidation spots from the winter.
I started with a normal wash and clay, not big deal. Then, I tried out my PC for the first time. I had some Pinnacle SMR that I recieved as a sample at the end of last year so I figured I've give that a shot. I put a few lines of it around the edge of an orange cutting pad and put it on the car. I started off at speed 2 until I had my working area covered then I upped the speed. Now, maybe this is where I went wrong. It was my first time using the PC so I was a bit hesitant and maybe didn't work the product as long as I should have.
After I was finished the swirl marks were still fairly evident but it was getting late and I had given up at that point. I used Klasse AIO after that which worked as usual and the car had a nice shine but still there were imperfections in the paint which was what I really wanted to take care of that day.
I was thinking maybe the Pinnacle SMR wasn't "tough" enough. I also have the Advanced SMR but it seemed very gritty so I convinced myself not to use it. Many people I've talked to suggest 3m Finesse It II, but I haven't had the opportunity to try it yet.
So...I'd like to give it a shot again. What did I do wrong/what should I do this time? If you ahve any questions just ask, i'm sure I must have left out some details. Thanks.
