Interior Detailing ...

Ok so ive investigated alot of threads on this forum, and have yet to come across one that speaks of INTERIOR Cleaning, My car is SHOT... the interior is in a state of decrepit-ness. Not decrepit in the fact of holes tears etc, but in terms of utter filth and staining... so i figured i would post and see what people use to clean the interior. It has finally pissed me off to the level where if i have to smear peanut butter on the interior of the freakin car to make it the CREAM DREAM SUPREME i will....

The interior of my maxima is Tan... actually its more like a yucky, staind tan .

Im talking about everything from the Dash, the doors, to the cloth seats...

You should start with microfiber towels and All Purpose Cleaners, diluted of course. Castrol Super Clean comes to my mind. Get your self some small cheap paint brushes, cut the tips off to make them a little stiffer. Shop vac with the 1 1/4 inch hose and attachments. for small areas. Vacuum all areas thoroughly first. Find a can of upholstery cleaner at your local auto shop/pep boys/kragen etc for the seats.

~One man’s opinion / observations~

The three steps to interior detailing are vacuuming, cleaning, and conditioning/protecting
1.Vacuuming- (Metropolitan Vac 'N BloTM) always begin your interior cleaning with a thorough vacuuming, it is much easier to vacuum loose dirt from doorjambs when the dirt is dry instead of muddy after washing the exterior. Use the crevice tool for hard-to-reach areas (don't forget the instrument panel and stereo controls), the upholstery attachment (usually a soft round brush) for the seats, and the stiff-bristled brush on the carpet, to loosen deeply embedded dirt and lift matted carpet-pile
2.Cleaning- the next step is to clean the dashboard, door panels and the headliner
Normal Cleaning:
Spray on 303TM Cleaner & Spot RemoverTM until damp (This product may be used on all water safe materials. The cleaning action increases with warm water, agitation and longer dwell time.) Completely wipe away dirt/grime with damp cloth until clean, rinsing out clothe as required. Allow to completely dry before use.
Spots and Stains:
Spray the spot until wet with 303TM Cleaner & Spot RemoverTM, or Woolite® Heavy Traffic Carpet Foam, agitate with wet medium-soft brush and let stand. Then blot up the stain and excess cleaner as described above. If necessary, repeat, agitate and let stand a few minutes before wiping clean. Dry completely before use.

3. Conditioning and Protecting:
Don't miss this very important step.
Once your interior is clean, you should use a conditioning/protection product (303TM High Tech Fabric Guard, which includes UVR protection) to ensure protected surface will repel dirt and moisture, and again, keep your vehicle in its like-new condition.

Using the right detailing tools to apply and remove the cleaning and conditioning products will make the job easier and will give you professional results

Preparation:
With the floor mats and the seats removed, use vacuum air to blow out the interior. Concentrate especially on cracks and crevices where dirt and dust needs to be loosened. Sand particles in seat cracks for example.

Next, thoroughly vacuum the interior to pick-up loose particles that the air may have dislodged. Use a firm bristled brush to loosen trapped dirt and sand that has become caught in the carpet. Don't forget about the floor mats. Working back to front, top to bottom is a good routine. Using the same routine when detailing an interior assures that nothing gets missed.

~Hope this helps~

I find cleaning leather kinda fun. Especially since the mothers conditioner smells like a cross between coconut and play doh.. haha (sniffing too many products maybe?)

For the interior I only use 1Z Products. They are made in Germany and NOTHING I have used compares to the end result!! (Yes I have tried and used 303,Lexol,and Meguiars). This complete kit has it all except glass cleaner.
1Z Matte Effect Interior Kit
For glass I use their Glass cleaner and Sonus Detailing micro Fiber towel
1Z Glass Cleaner
Sonus MF Detailing towels
I use one to clean the glass then the other to dry the glass. It doesn't get any easier than that. Please try them I KNOW you will be happy.
