Well I've had the "baby" for about 3 weeks now and it got the full deal this weekend. I use your average everyday Meguiar's Gold Class stuff.

These MOFO's should sponsor me!


now the pics I took just after I got done waxing aren't the best. But you can get an idea with even the poor lighting you can see the shine.

1st coat I used the Liquid clearcoat
It wasn't that great. I got a good layer of wax but the shine kinda blew. I knew that I was gonna through on another layer right after.
2nd coat I used the clearcoat PASTE
That shit is much better to work with and goes on thicker than the liquid. It also dries allot better too. This is what made it gleem!

I think that's enough...

Tires: Gel is the BOMB! I hate all the sprays and crap. just gets all over your rims then when you drive it splatters all around your fenders. Last decent amount of time and if you just rub it after it dulls a bit you get it to shine again w/o having to put more on.

Trim: I read the trim thread then went to the store(car needed trim treatment badly) and I didn't listen to any of you! I got this 1Z or Z1 what ever it is cause it was expensive and I figured it must be good! ....... IT KICKS ASS! I recomend that stuff highly. $13.00 a bottle! worth it! Smells cool!

The Meguiars rich leather treatment is way better than the Leather conditioner they have. That rocks as well and has a good scent too!

All in all, I dig the meguiars shit! Good stuff! I've used it for awhile now.

I think that's about it. next weekend I tackle the engine bay... TIPS?

Sorry(CMT) to kinda stealing your thread idea. but after all it's to share the experiance with different products(cheaper ones in this case)! The way I did it was more of the "poor kid" version!

Come on man no need to apologize. I had hoped more people would post in this forum and get into detailing. Your car looks great - How was the paint in its initial condition? If it was swirled or a bit scratched/oxidized you could have done an initial application of Meguiar's Dual Action Cleaner Polish and it would have made for a great base to then start adding other polishes and wax.

Either way, there is nohting wrong with the Gold Class stuff.

It needed wax when I got it. I threw on a coat of the liquid clearcoat the next day(after purchase). In total it now has three coats. I didn't know about the dual action stuff. Will that strip the wax on it already? I'm gonna go all out again tomorrow. There's a S.D. meet so I need to SHINE! In the sun it's really blinding! I'm all about the trim stuff I used! it's still looking fresh after 6 days and 250ish miles. It didn't attract dust/dirt.

The DACP will remove a lot of the imperfections in the paint and prep it for the next layers of wax. Although if you are happy with the shine you have now, there probably isn't any need to to start over with the DACP, as it will strip the paint of your already hard work. :/

Tried several waxes Zaino, Zymol, Griot's Garage and I was thoroughly impressed with what the Griot's Best in Show liquid wax did to the M3, but it doesn't last long at all, great for a garage queen like the Dakar...but for a daily, it simply doesn't last long. I've found that Zymol carbon wax, the regular paste wax is great stuff, decent shine, slick and lasts so long.

We switched from Griots to Zaino on the M3 and I didn't notice any difference.
