Car Wax for BMW or Mercedes

Sorry if this is a repost, but I am looking for high quality wax for my Mercedes and BMW. Do any of you guys know a good brand of car wax and where I can find it?

zymol. they have waxes ranging from 15 dollars to 1,450 dollars!!! the most expensive wax comes in a nice glass jar and you are suppose to apply it with your bare hand. its so expensive because of the amount of carbanuna and oils in it. it is refillable for free for life tho. idk if it justifies the price but i am dying to try it. maybe if we get a fund goin on dtm to buy it then just pass it around and let everyone use it since its free refills. but anyway i trust only zymol and meguires. they both provide good shine and good protection.

Don't get Zymol. Paint is going to look good because of the prep you use, not the wax you use. If you want a good locally available paste wax, go to your local Harley Davidson dealer and pick up a tub of S100. Its the same thing as P21S. Paint is 95% prep, 5% products.

Of course I agree with Greg 100%. I have a very long-winded detailing writeup here that documents a step-by-step process of my own paint restoration for this season. I haven't even used a wax yet, as so far it has all been paint prep including a cleaner, polish, glaze and sealant applied with the right pad using a POrter Cable random orbital.

If all you are really looking for is a wax, then S100 is the way to go. Easy on, easy off, with a very slick and "wet" look as a result. The only problem is that if the paint beneath it is weathered/swirled/scuffed/etc. it just isn't going to look anywhere near its best.

Griots Garage

I like to use Griot’s. One is I can get it all here in Fife, two it sure makes the care look nice. I just finished my 78 300D and the neighbors thought I got the car repainted.

Zymol

Only get Zymol if you have the time to prep the paint Zymol's HD cleanse cause that wax is not going to bond well. It is A LOT more work if you are driving your car everyday because they do recommend to HD cleanse if your car has been on the road. It takes a much longer time then when I was using Meguiar's and could use an buffer.

If you are going to drive it everyday and not want to spent the better part of the day detailing then go with the recommendations above. Its really hard to tell the difference on a lighter color paints so unless the BMW or Merc is a darking color then keep it simple, maybe go all out X number is times a year.

FROM zymol's site:Important: Do not drive the car or allow it to stand more than 24 hours without completing the Zymöl process.

Zymol does a real nice job but unless you have time and $ to complete the whole process it easy and quicker to use the above and the above is great suggestions. I use it cause the ///M3 sleeps in the garage for the better part of the year and so I can just take it out wash wax and put it back in. (after the weekend fun) Maybe you use one car over the other but just nice to know. Let us know what work'd for ya

EDIT: the waxes that Zymol hass for like $1500 I think are more for a showroom car, the $50 works for me.

I don't like Zymol at all! I would look at Griot's Garage "Best Of Show Wax" gives your car a wet paint look... Very deep! Got to prep the paint frist... I like to use a paint cleaning clay to get started after you wash it good...

Here is my run down:

1) Spray it off with H2O
2) Use Car wash shampoo (Griot's Garage)
3) Dry with Micro Fiber towel (Griot's Garage)
4) Paint Cleaning Clay (Griot's Garage)
5) Wash with car wash Shampoo (Griot's Garage)
6) Dry with Micro Fiber (Griot's Garage)
7) Use a Fine Hand Polish By hand on w/ Foam off w/ Micro Fiber (Griot's Garage)
8) Finish with a Carnauba wax By hand on w/ Foam off w/ Micro Fiber (Griot's Garage)

Do this any you will have a Best of Show car look!

Never had it leave white residue on my car, and its true that it does seems to last as long as other products, but it does a good job for me with careful application. Yea but I used meguairs before and you really can't beat their stuff, its great stuff and I still love it. Their gold class was just great to me, and I love their hot rims wheel cleaner just melts brake dust off.

I use Klasse All in one paint cleaner then Klasse High Glaze paint Sealant. You also could top the High Gloss with S100 P21S or any "quality" carnuaba wax.
