Anyone tried Clay Magic detailing clay on their rides? Few more questions. . .

Is it worth the trouble?

When do you apply it? Before or after glazing? Between glazing and polishing?

i have not used the brand of clay you posted, but used the meguiars clay,,, probably exactly the same thing anyway... i felt the results will yield the type of paint smoothness that you would normally only find at international auto shows... it is well worth it... but you better becareful not to be adding more swirls while you're at it... use plenty of lubrication and do not push down on the clay...

Yeah, i have used it and have no complaints. Just make SURE that the surface is lubricated. I used the whole bottle on it and your paint is extremely smooth afterwards. But it is only recommended that you only use it like 2 times a year. But i love it. Will do it again in the spring!

I used to detail cars for a living (well not really I lived with my parents and used the extra cash to buy parts for the VW I had then, but I digress). Anyway, the clay bars are incredible, they pull up some much crap that you didn't see in the paint and leave it incredibly smooth. Then you can polish with out any worries of stray particles scratching your paint. Use a lot of the spray that comes with the clay and when you are done you'll be so suprised at how smooth your paint can be.

I recomend the mothers clay bar, it is not the most expensive, but it seems to work the best.

Also, what did you use for lubrication after the Clay Magic stuff was gone? Any soap and water solution?

Go out and buy some of the quick detailer that comes with it. Also don't wait too long before buying a new bar. I think I do like 5 cars with each bar. And if you drop the bar, get a new one. Too much crap will get trapped in there.

You really should clay the car right after you wash it. You don't even have to dry the car. Just keep it wet, (but still spray some Quick Detailer on the surface) and clay the entire car. When you're done, then dry it off and proceed to compound, polish, glazing, and finally waxing.
