What kind did you get? If you got the stuff from Autozone- you just got $14 "Zyrtle Wax." My advice, go get either some Megs. new Tech Wax or go to your local Harley shop and get some S100. Apply it thinly, probably let it haze, take it off. Making your finish look good is in the prep, not the topper.

yeah i got the autozone stuff. i read some good things about the s100. is the s100 just a one step system, or are there more than one s100 products? also would a buffer be required for s100? -thanks

hey greg, ok i found out there is s100 cleaner and paste wax. would you recommend both? the car is a '94 318is and looks like it's been a year since it's been waxed (only had it for a few weeks). i have some 3m imperial hand glaze already. here's what i thought about doing, wash, clay bar, 3M imperial hand glaze or s100 cleaner, and then s100 paste wax. i'd like to know what you recommend and if a buffer should be used. -thanks a lot

The best bang for the buck buffer out there is the Porter Cable 7424 available from www.coastaltool.com or the Porter Cable 7336 available at Lowes. They are the same machine, just different accesories like the hook and loop backing plate. If you do get a buffer, don't cheap out. The PC is about the only orbital that can generate enough speed to break down a polish. A polish is to remove swirl mark and other paint correction. The $20 buffers are basically just waxers and anyone can put wax on by hand. As for the S100, if you go to a Harley shop, you should find the SEPC or GEPC, don't remember which one it is but basically it is the pre-cleaner to the S100, which is a pure wax. The Zymol you bought is a cleaner wax, which cleans the surface and puts a coat of wax on it. If you want to do this by hand, without spending ~$150 on a buffer and pads when its all said and finished, this would be my plan. Use a terry towel- good quality like Fieldcrest, which is a bit more aggressive than foam pads and it it to apply a polish/glaze like Megs. Swirl mark remover or GEPC. Then, apply a coat of S100 or NXT tech wax or Megs. #26. These are all available locally. The durability of the S100 is about 3 weeks, whereas the tech wax might be 1 week longer.

Zymol is a great wax. But with that being said, it's also very hard to take off. My sugguestion is that you use small amounts and do a section at a time. If brought out in direct sunlight, you will see that there is still a light haze over your work. That is why after Zymol (protection and cleaner) I follow up with the S100 paste wax to get rid of any additional hazing and to really bring out the car's luster. Either way you slice it, your arms are gonna be dead the next day. -Mike
