Toughest wax?

I live in buffalo (translation: cold and windy out 24/7) and I don't have the luxury of owning a garage so I'm looking for a wax that will keep snow/salt and basicaly keep my bimmer in good condition for a long time. I've looked into 5star shine http://www.5starshine.com/ , they're claming to have the best durability. Any thoughts?

I think a lot of it has to do with how you wash the car and how often. In the winter most people get lazy and take it to a high pressure car wash. That's strip the wax. Add to that hot or warm water and you've got nothing left but paint.

As far as what waxes I've used with good luck. So far I've only used Meguiars gold class maybe. It's an old wax I've had for awhile. It's a paste in a black can. It works fairly well, but not great. This summer I went with Zaino and just put a coat of S100 over the top of it. So far so good. We'll see when the salt and snow come out how it fares.

You are definitely want to go with a sealant. A polymer sealant is going to last significantly longer compared to a wax because it actually bonds to the paint. Do a searh for Klasse, Zaino, Blackfire, Platinum, Einszett for some of the most popular sealants.

I should say however, that if you do want to use an actual wax, Collinite is known for its superior durability.

matt c smith is right. Just don't go to a pressure washer. also, whenever you get salt on your paint, get it off as soon as possible.
