Goo Gone will harm your paint if you leave it on for too long. I recommend using an amonia based cleaner, such as Windex. Simply spray it on, and since it is pre-diluted, you do not have to worry about it eating away at your clear coat. Let it sit for about 15 seconds in any spots with sticker goo remaining, then wipe with a paper towel.
Wax DOES NOT add a layer of clear cote to your car. Wax will simply add a small protective layer for about 2 months to your paint. This protective layer protects against UV Oxidation and decreases the amount of harmful chemicals and materials that can harm your paint.
