swirls

Hey guys,

I've had a couple of bad experiences with some car cleaning products (Sonax polishing cloths and a kenco washing mit) which in turn have put some deep swirl marks into my paint which was in perfect showroom condition. (now back on Meguires buffing pads and just bought a Meguires washing mit)

About 2 months ago i tried to clean up my paint best possible with one application of Meguires Scratch-X and two coats of Meguires Gold Class Wax which helped a great deal but some swirls are still visible in direct sunlight and its driving me crazy!!

Im going to have another go at the car this weekend, what should I do to remove the swirls for good?? Anyone recommend some more effective products or techniques? Would polishing with an orbital buffer help?

Yes, a buffer is going to help significantly. Honestly, you very well might be the cause of your own swirls with your washing and or drying technique. My workhorse swirl remover is Megs. BSP Dual Action Cleaner Polish available at your local auto paint store more than likely. Using it by hand is difficult because it has buffered abrasives that need to break down before it achieves results. Get some good quality microfiber towels- www.pakshak.com as these will become your savior to prevent swirls. Also, Megs. gold class has cleaning properties, therefore it cannot be layered.
