6 x 9s in the back of a E30?

Has anyone ever installed 6 x 9s in the rear of their E30? I've seen it done before. All I'm concerned about is the back of the speaker fitting in the factory speaker opening in the shell. I can easily drill new mounting holes.

I did it in my old 325e, i used an adapter plate to bump the 6x9 up a bit. this will work, but isn't the best looking.

I would cut out the package tray, and modify the metal under the package tray a bit to have them fit flush. about 30 minutes with a sawzall and your done

you are better off using a rotozip spiral saw- much easier and faster than trying to handle a sawzall back there.
Best $50 tool you will ever own!
