help! radio stopped working

I turned on the car the other day, and the damn radio stopped working! it turns on and all, but no sound came out. if i pushed on the left side where the volume nob is, it would come back, but only to the rear. Then if i went over bumps, it would stop again. I have the tape deck factory headunit in a 93 325is. P.S. how do i get the head unit out? special tools?

sounds like ur connection got loose...take the deck out and see if the wires are lose

I did, and the wiring harness is fine. Could it be the plugs? What is the best way to clean them?

check to see if there are any burn marks on th plugs....sometimes if a "hot wire" touches a ground it will spark...what i usually do to clean it is by using an eraser...they work fine...u just have to make sure u get all the eraser stuff out if it falls in the lil cracks of the plugs....also if u can try opening ur deck and see if the button is cracked or broken...if it is broken that is probally why u have to push it in more in order for it to work....sorry i cant tell u how to take out the tape deck since i never had the stock one....i dont think it should be so hard...try taking out the ac switch by pulling off the 2 front nobs and then then taking out the screws....after that the switch should push right in. after ur done with that try to push the deck out from underneath....thats all i can think of...if u have any more questions just ask
