Need Help Quick...Audio Question

I know this is in the wrong forum, but I need your guys' help quick.
I just bought a new Alpine HU and am pulling out the factory unit. I have a 96 318is with the harmon kardon option... I also have the euro antenna adapter and wiring harness. I need to know what the large wire directly below the wiring harness (bulk of speaker wires, etc) on the factory head unit is. My after market wiring harness has no place for this large (power of some sort?) wire. Also, I need to know how to remove the factory harness from the factory HU. Thanks a bunch everybody and if you have any idea please respond...
