I have heard jl's and i've heard alpine type r's. If i were in your situation I would def go for twin 12" Alpines. They are very crisp sounding, have very deep bass (if that's what your interested in) and in my honest opinion out perform the JL subs. Don't forget to do your research on a good amp too .

SPL is just the loudness of the sub... if u want only SPL and no music quality at ALL get the audiobahn, but if you want a real good mix of SQ and SPL get 2 12" Type R's like i did =D

The only subs from JL that i like are the W6V2 and W7...

i have a 12" audiobahn flame series sub and i think that shit bumps pretty good....im planning to change it though cuz i want something else...prolly gonna go for the JLW7 or gonna go wit alphaaudio

definately some JL W6V2s. Im hopin to pick some up for my car come summer, right now ive got some W0 JLs but its time for an upgrade...

jl w7 definitely the best sounding sub but if u wanna save some money a rockfort fosgate HE2 with a nice amp kicks pretty damn hard
