..ahh...well, everyone has there own opinion I guess.

I would not say that those subs are of the same caliber as the W7 though.

speakers

let me ask you a question? you know why it is the w7 it was named after the L7 thats why that sub was built .to compete with the kicker L7 and yes the w7 hits hard as hell and has great sq. but so do tons of speakers out there . whatever man it is a lossed cause to argue over who,s subs are better cause we aint the ones makiong money off of them you know what i mean . well anyway let the spl and sq battles determan the end result .

peace

Just so you know, the W7 was already in its development stages when Kicker came up with the idea for the L7.... Its just that the W7 has a lot more research time behind it....and the reason that Kicker named their subs the L7 is because the name resembles a square. JL did not name their sub the W7 to compete with Kicker. And if you think about it, JL has always used W's and numbers for their subs....W0, W1, W3, W4, W6.....now, wouldnt it be the logical choice to use the number 7 as the next top of the line sub in the company? I kinda doubt they would make it W5, because people would get the idea that the W6 was better.

okay you got me

yea now that i think of it you are right. but i know for a fact that that sub was designed to compete with the L7 as was the L7 was designed to compete with the w7 hey man both are great subs. i like jl,s amps they are a quality piece of work dont get me wrong jl is a great company that has done there homework but they just are so over priced . for what you get .and you got to addmit that they are a very sensitive sub . which means to much power and boom no more sub i know 4 people of the bat . that bought the w7 from an autherized dealer and they kept blowing . and this is coming from a top of the line shop in new jersey . it is sound waves . they do someof the niciest work in jersey for systems and shit . at first they werent sure about the sub no it is okay but i have soo many problems in the past that i cant promot jl audio other than there amps sorry man keep it real bro laters greg

IDMAX is a much better speaker than the W7. Our shop has had a couple of people bring W7's to have us install them. nothing but problems with them.

If you guys want the best speaker, my vote would go to TWD infimax speakers. I just listened to them today at CES and it was incredible. Instead of using a voice coil like ALL speakers mentioned in this thread and 99% of the speakers on the market, these guys are using a rotary coil motor, rotary to linear drive arm to push a pair of speakers. If you are confused, look on there website to see pictures.

Now the reason they are so clean sounding is becase the have no unnecissary cone travel like voice coil speakers. If the voice coil is sucked in twards the magnet on a conventional speaker, in theory it will want to travel equal distance on it's rebound. the speakers suspension helps slow the bound and rebound, but it does not eliminate it. with the TWD speaker the drive mechanism is not magnetic, it is purely mechanical. When the rotary coil motor stops, the cones stop producing sound waves. this eliminates an incredible amount of distortion!

and you can run this for the price of 2 W7's!

BTW, I am going to be running 3 rainbow 12 inch woofers free-air powered by the new arc audio amps, it should be a very nice sounding system!

I loved the W7, but still wanted something tighter and cleaner while it still had the same power. Now the W7 hits a tad bit harder then a Crystal CMP x2 that I have, but sounds much cleaner. Also the box on a W7 is huge, while the CMp x2s only need 1.5 cubic feet ported!!! the IDMAX are nice subs too, and was my second choice...but I'm pure Sound quality person...while still demanding output...

don't go with JL, sure they are a good sounding sub, but all JL products are over priced..audiobahn makes a great product and I used to have them in my M3 before I wrecked it, and My 1 12" audiobahn 1200Q blew away my friends JL 12w3, we both had alpine MRV-T757amps and I had an alpine CDA-7863, and he had an alpine CDA-7864 (same deck, different color)...flame me if you want, but if you flame it is only telling me that you know the truth hurts...the audiobah is a great sub and its not marked up like a JL...
