| I think you need an antenna. Did you do the install yourself. I know when I had my alpine installed, they had to put in a new antenna as well. Not exactly sure why but this is probably the case for you. Jeffrey

Did you hook up the remote amp/ant lead from the radio to the trigger wire on the car's stereo harness. The antenna is a powered system and need a 12+ signal from the radio to turn on.

thats a good point, I thought my signal sucked but couldnt tell if it got worse between stock and the alpine. I know I had to to hook up a wire to make sure when I played PS2 the sound would stay on, but i dont know if that is the same thing you are talking about bimmer95. Something to look into if my raido wasent such a bitch to get back in

Are you still running the stock amp? By "kit" do you mean you used a wire harness adapter to plug the new headunit in to the stock plug? If you used an adapter harness, the wire on that harness would have been blue.

Most radios these days have two remote wires, a blue/white wire that goes 12v+ anytime the radio is turned on (amp) and a blue wire that only goes 12v+ when the tuner on the radio is in use (ant). You need to connect the blue (ant) wire to the blue or blue/white wire on your adapter harness.
