REMOVING door panels? need to change speakers

its kinda late, and i just realized that i won't have time to do this tommorrow..so guess what-i gotta do it now, although i'd much rather be . basically i need to replace the speakers in my door, and i have heard that removing the panels is a pain. i don't wanna break anything so im calling upon those who have dealt with the panels before...please help me

ok, im assuming your talking about an e36 and i dont know if other models are different. There is two things holding on your door, two small star screws and thest white plastic little bitch ass clips the whole way around.
The screws are easy, they are located under the door handle just pop off the covers and you'll see them (mine were gold in color). The pattern is star shaped, but i was able to get them out w/ a small flat head driver.
After that you just have to pull along the edges to pop off the clips, you might feel like the door is going to break, but i have done it a couple of times and it hasn't yet.
Ok, the doors are off, watch the wires, be careful not to rip them off but if you accidently do they can be clipped back in at the speakers and mirror. to get the speakers out you have to un twist the backs of them and they will come off. It will prob make a little more sence when you see what im talking about.
The biggest tip i would give you is MAKE SURE YOU LINE UP the white clips really well when you put the door back on. Its worth it to take the time to line up each one, one at a time before you hit them back in or they WILL break off. Good luck.

Use a butter knife to pop out the door panel. It won't damage panel or the door.

Also, you might want to roll up your windows while you do this. It's very easy to crack the windows if you try to take off the door panels with windows retracted.

i just got in, and have called it a night. i was able to replace the tweeters and one midrange.however, it is gonna take me some time to mount both mids properly(crossovers are allover the place and i don't think the speaker was installed tight enough the first time damn circuit city...) i will attempt tommorrow, cuz i gotta have the tunes for friday!
