| ? for the car audio guys I had the JVC SH-99 (Danny the remote is on the way soon) and it sounded pretty decent with the stock speakers...nice full sound. Now I just had the Eclipse 54410 installed (the theives screwed up all my wires) and the eclipse is very nice, but the lows sound like shit with the new unit. The highs are incredibly sharp and precise, but the lows blow. I am going to do a sub install when funds are more available...but in the meantime, whats up with this? I never would expect two units to produce such different sounding lows/highs except when using aftermarket speakers/amps. Thanks Joe

| Can the head unit make that much of a difference in sound? My bass sounds like shit. Is it possible that when the thieves stole my JVC SH99 they shorted out the amp? I seriously doubt that the installer screwed up the install. But it almost sounds like the positives and negatives got switched and fucked the polarity. Any ideas guys?

| I know when I had my Eclipse CD8051 you could adjust the crossover settings on the headunit itself. I don't think your model head unit has that, but if it does, check it. If not, check the amps to see if the theives happen to adjust the crossover points, adjust bass boost, etc. Mike... |

| Actually, my headunit doesnt have the eq or adjustment settings, and the amp is factory, but I am still running through that. Iam going to try and bypass that today and see if it makes a difference. If it doesnt, I know that the installer screwed or something like that. I will drive down there and let them listen to it and check it out. Thanks joe

| If you are using the factory amp, make SURE your connections from the deck to the amp are right. You may have the polarity switched on one of the outputs. Check out the link below to see what wires are what on the factory radio harness http://www.unofficialbmw.com/e36/ste...eo_pinouts.gif |
