| 1. Do you have the crossover wired correctly? 2. Do you have the frequency settings on your headunit adjusted appropriately? It's possible you may be inadvertantly telling your headunit to allow damaging low frequencies to enter your speakers. Double check! Anyone else want to help out?

| Does your Orion 225g4 have a high pass crossover? If so, set it to at least 125hz HIGH PASS. Also, as DOO said if there is a crossover on your Alpine headunit, make sure it is set to block low frequencies to your interior speakers. Peace

| Ok, yeah my amp does have a high pass crossover, but I didn't want to put that on because it cuts out all the midbass. As far as the crossovers on the speakers, I didn't put them in cause my cousin said that the crossovers from my old Bostons should be in there. Maybe I should check that out... My Alpine head has a low and high frequency pass filter, so what frequency should I set them at? Thanks guys! Sal

| The Alpine CDA-7894 has a dedicated 4v sub preout. It also has sub level control on the deck. You might have to "turn on" the sub control in the menu. Since you have a sub, you should be running the amp for your mids/highs in hipass. That shouldn't hurt your midbass. If the amp has an adjustable crossover point, try it at 80Hz. Again, since you have a sub, don't use any bass boost on the deck. I don't think the 7894 has a LOUD option, but if it does, turn it off. As far as crossovers go, they are specifically engineered for the drivers they're mated with. I wouldn't be using Boston crossovers with some other brand of speakers. Jay Jay |
