need amp/subwoofer advice please!!

First of all, I just want to warn you guys that I'm a car audio newbie, so I apologize if I sound like an idiot. Ok, I have a 98 M3 coupe with HK sound. I recently got the Alpine 7894 head unit installed and I love it. But basically, here's my predicament. First of all, my car is a lease so everything I do must be reversible. So the person at the store told me that because I was bypassing the factory amp, there's a chance that over time, it could freak out and mess up my whole stereo system? Is there any truth to this? He said it's because you're tricking the car into thinking there's an amp when there isnt one. So, if there is truth to this, would it remedy this situation if I bought an aftermarket amp? Also, would an aftermarket amp make it sound better also? Also, what is a good basic aftermarket amp that people would recommend, that is fairly cheap, but still sounds good, and works well with this head unit? I don't have a problem spending a few hundred bucks to buy an amp if it'll make things sound better and will prevent any problems that the salesperson warned about, and can still be removed without a trace when my lease is up. I also have a 10" pioneer sub sitting in my garage, which I'll probably get installed in any case. So i guess my question is should i get an aftermarket amp? and if so, will it help with these problems? and which one to get? how much woudl it cost? THanks so much guys.

If all you've done is add the Alpine deck, I don't see how you've bypassed the factory amp. The new deck should be providing an input signal to the factory amp that's a little higher than the factory deck would have. I doubt that will become a problem. If it did, and it was me, I'd put the factory deck back in there and take it in for repair under warranty.

If you want to add a sub without cutting wires, etc, Bavarian Autosport sells a plug-n-play deal. I think it's Infinity Basslink. Pretty spendy and not the best sub option but I've read from some who were pleased with it's performance. Easy in and easy out.

the sub is an easy fix...

ya the suiblink is a neat little product that taps into any pos-neg speaker wire .It will make those speaker connections into rca connections for an amp.. Run a power wire to the battery in the trunk And use a fuse and a neg. to any ground.. For the remote wire for the amp. You can either wire this up on a switch to the battery and turn it on or off manually or find a ignition wire.. like maybe a power antena.A remote wire is used t control the amps on off s you dont drai the battery... Use you 12v check light to see it turn off and on when you turn off and on the keyed switch...Also to tap into the speaker wires use cowboy clips.. This will let you use the wire but not cutting the wire itself.. All is very simple and very straight forward..

A good amp is a JBL 600.1 I have it and i love it = ) It wil be more than enough for ur 10" sub if u wire it @ 2 ohms
