why is my factory radio have so much Static!!!

it get worse as I drive the ST light comes on and the static orvides the music??? any ideas

you have an aftermarket radio right? if so, whats happening is that your aftermarket radio doesnt come equipped to handle a 'diversity' antenna system. (a diversity antenna is basically two antennas constantly switching back and forth to the antenna that can deliver the strongest signal.) There is a company in the process of making an adapter that will still allow you to maintain a diversity system and link it to aftermarket radio but they have been in "r&d" for quite some time now... your other options are to rip one of the diversity antennas and its driver out of your car, install a regular antenna to the aftermarket radio somewhere in your car or have a regular antenna/power antenna installed but that is an extreme option.
