What audio is best?

Hi i am looking into replacing my head unit and factory cd changer. I was wondering if anyone has any opinions on what brand i should purchase. The only thing i really want is the head unit to be able to play MP3's from burnt cd's. I would appericate any info on brads or specific model #'s for head unit and changers.

Many here will reccomend the Alpine MP3 units because of the quality and orange backlit display which closely resembles your car's interior. However after careful research I went with the JVC SH-99 mp3 unit in silver. It was given a notch over the Alpines in the MP3 category. Run a search on "Alpine MP3" and you should come up with a few threads.

I think the Blaupunkt San Jose has red lights but Im not that hot on the silver. It would be perfect if it were black

Why don't they make both that is just dumb.

I think the Nak units look best as replacements. But I dont think they play MP3's.

Now if you got the cash then i would go for the Nak CD45z and get the Kenwood KEG.

alpine cda 7894, run a search, best deck imo for ur needs, matches stock well and plays mp3's

and look in my sig

Yep... in terms of being able to play MP3's and matching the car's amber color, the Alpine CDA-7894 is definitely a nice choice. I don't have in my car but I have played with it at the store before. It's a nice head unit and as you can see from Estoril Blue's sig pic it matches perfectly.

Also, Nakamichi HU's are also a nice choice for our BMW's. The amber color also matches the interior perfectly, but I don't think they make a single MP3 unit. However, they do make the Naka MB-75, which is an IN-DASH 6-Disc CD Player.

Doesn't get any better than that...

Also, I think Blaupunkt HU's are garbage. Also, that silver would look horrible in any BMW dash. That's MO...

From Estoril Blue...

"yup, hold downb the "set up" button for three seconds and then ur screen should read "amber off" then just press band and itll switch to "amber on" then just press set up again and ur amber"

yup, but thats only for the 7894 model

edit: and in my humble opinion, the previous HU's that were posted look like terrible crap

gotta say thats pretty pimp! i got a 7871.. tried and it didnt seem to work... i guess no luck there???

Agreed. Putting Blaupunkt (Blue Dot in German) in a BMW is almost blasphemy.

Check out the Alpine 7876. Amber matches perfectly and it's sharp..
