| Subwoofer Help! Hey you guys. Sorry for not posting this in the media section but I need a fast answer! I have the choice to buy the Apline Type R 12inch Subwoofer for $150 each. Or I can buy the Audiobahn ALUM12x Subwoofer for $140 each. The Audiobahn has a 1000watt Peak power. Not sure about the Alpine Type R's. Remember, I am buying 2 subwoofers. So which two should I get!?!? Thanks in advance! |

| Heres a tip: Always always ignore a peak power rating, it a marketing gimmick. Rms rating is more useful, soory I can't give an opinion o either of your options. |

| My friend wants to sell me some Alpine Type E-'s that he has, I never heard of them before, They look like the Type-S/Type-R's but it says Type-E instead. Is this an older model? Any good? It says 200RMS/600Peak, comparable to the Type-S, should i get this or just hold off for a Type-S?

| Haha wtf Type E? Never heard of Type E. Check those web sites I gave you on your thread. They have great prices! But no one has answered my question yet!!!! |

| Well, i'd say if you just want to thump like crazy, get the Audiobahns. Personally I'd go for the Type-R's they thump like crazy AND sound nice with with other less bass-intensive music. I've ehard nothing but good things about them. See, someone did answer your question!!!

| Haha thanks for answering man. Well I ordered the Audiobahns yesterday. I went to a local car audio shop and he looked at them and he said the $140 was a great price. Although they were last year models, this year they have the EXACT sub with the same specs but instead of ALUM12X its ALUM12Q. Also the price of the new ones are $240. He said they will be identical. So I bought the audiobahns. I'll let you guys know how much I like them one I get them. If you guys are wondering where I bought them, I got them at www.thezeb.com. Click on the Audiobahn Special Sale Page. Avus, I know you've been lookin for some subs so I would go there if I were you. If ya need some help, just pm me! If ya got AOL we can talk on that to. Thanks everyone! |

| The most important thing about choosing subs is not just power and efficiency but it is how you will use them. Subs react to different enclosures and in different sound environments. Are you going to use a bandpass box, ported reflex, infinite baffle? How big is your enclosure going to be? Do you want to sacrifice most of your trunk or do you want to still want to fit a set of golf clubs in it. Believe me, I went thru 6 pairs of subs before I settled on a set of MTX T8000 in a ported reflex design with 26" x 4" ports. I am getting 147 db with only 2 subs! Decide on your enclosure parameters first then get the subs to accommodate these parameters. The same subs may sound good in a Civic hatchback but like shit in a Bimmer. ![]() |

| Hmmm, interesting info here... What would you guys suggest for my convertible, being that for a 10" sub with a box that's gonna be custom (due to half the height of the trunk where I want to have it) so that the height is around 10-10.5" MAX, the depth I'd say around maybe 15-20" max, and the width as much as need be. I wanna make a stealth install of the sub and amp and have a hinged door so that all you see is the main part of the trunk, and the lower-height portion under the storage area for the convertible top is where all my audio stuff is hidden. What type of sub box would be good for there? I have a JL 10" sub, I forget which model, not the real high-end one but not cheap. Got it like 2 years ago. It hits really nice and tight but I hate losing all the trunk space I got. Sorry for bein so long! I might post this as a thread I think...sorry moderators! ![]() Sal
