Radio cuts out when i use rear defroster ?

yesterday i went to start my car and had the radio on. the reseption was fine until i turned on the rear defroster and all of sudden all i got was static. has this happened to anyone else and if so how can i fix it? the car is a 96 E36 if that helps any. thanks in advance.

Mine use to do that also. I was messing around with the HU and noticed that when I had it out of the dash, radio on and rear defroster on, the reception was fine. Once I put the radio back into the dash with the defroster on, I got static. (I have an aftermarket HU) I couldnt figure out what was wrong.

Come to find out, my antenna adapter was picking up electrical interference. A simple fix was by wrapping a couple layers of electrical tape around the factory antenna wire and the antenna adapter.

Its worth giving it a try. My radio reception has been fine ever since...
