Hum, Buzzing In The Speakers

Ok, so I receive a new (to me) setup from my buddy, and I get this annoying hum in the speakers, sounds like AC hum, but I've been unable to isolate it, it is coming from the preamp tho, as I hooked up the cd-player directly and get no hum.. Heres the setup..

ADCOM GT-500II Preamp/Tuner
ROTEL RB-1080 Amp

I know for a fact the speakers themselves are not a problem, neither is the wiring, as I had a Sony STR-DE875 hooked up w/ no problem. I woulda kept the sony hooked up but I don't have any surround speakers, and the thing is freakin crazy w/ options, I I liked the simple Adcom setup better.. the sony is on loan tho so no biggie.. Any help, thanks!

sounds like there is something in the adcom's powersupply that isn't agreeing with ur wall

Yeah, I asked my father about it, said to ground the preamp to the amp, so I did and voila!, well, sorta, the hum is minimal now, you can only hear it with everything turned down, shit, last night, since I'm a nerd, I hooked EVERYTHING up, got my Infinity's working again w/ the 2 Tower speakers I had from our previous system, surround speakers, center, all that, never had it before, definitely changes the movie experience, now I have to get some real speakers...
