A good 1000 watt (RMS) amp will cost you at least $1000. If your budget is limited to $400, I'd try to find quality instead of big numbers. Anyone who says they have a 1000 watt amp at that price is blowing smoke. Kicker ZR360 is a pretty good choice. They are being replaced with a new model. Maybe you can find a closeout or a used one. Even better would be a used ZR600. I have one driving 2 Solobaric 12s in my Accord. Jay

I have the same subs in my car, the 1205X, And i LOVE them. I think that Audiobahn doesn't get the recognition that they deserve. For the power and the quality, and price you pay for them, they are a great deal!! Anyway to your question, how are you planning on wiring the subs? I have a Rockford Fosgate 1000.2, which I would recommend tested from the factory at: 14.5 Volts 1547 watts and 2ohms bridges mono!!! And I paid around $550.00 for it. Can’t beat that price. The subs are in a custom sealed boxed that I built, with each Voice coil in series, and then I tied the two subs together (parallel) and bridged the amp. So to wrap up, I’m putting around 1200 watts total out of the amp, to the two speakers. The only problem with this setup is that Rockford doesn’t recommend this setup cause the amp is below the 4 ohm bridge mono minimum, and can damage the amp if for some reason the heat shutoff circuit fails (like that’s guna happen), but the amp does overheat if you don't have proper cooling. When it over heat it simply shuts off, and takes about 10 minutes to cool down.

get an xtant 1001x... (http://www.xtant.com/html/products/x1001.cfm)... its 1000 watts @ 2 ohms, but i have reports of them running (stable) all the way down to a 1/4 ohm!!! its also .01% thd and will bend that crappy RF amp over any day. they go for about 5-600 on ebay, about a grand - 1200 new.

well right now i'm thinking the Audiobahn A18001D Mono Class-D Amplifier or the Audiobahn A1500HCX -- 2000 watts RMS x 1 @ 1 ohm mono amp... anyone have anything good to say about these amps?

Most of the amps mentioned above are a/b amps. This means they will heat up and put a lot of strain on your car's electrical system. You would need a Class D amp. Those never heat up, they put out a lot of power and they do not take away from your electrical system. Personally I would get a DEI 1100D. Puts out a little more then 1000wrms (real nominal continueus power) and always runs cool. Class D is for subs only.
