Replacing my e53 stock stereo

Will replacing my stock 2002 E53 stereo (I have the non-MP3 business CD currently) with a double DIN aftermarket stereo cause the OBC located in my gauge cluster to not work? Or are these parts completely independent? Any input is appreciated.

Both parts are independent from one another. So you shouldn't have to worry about it. However, if you have steering wheel controls for your radio which I'm like 99.9% sure you do, those might not work after you install a new head unit. There are a few aftermarket head units that support the steering wheel function. One of those brands is Alpine.
