two small questions,

is it true that i have to remove the cover from my amp to connect the speaker and power wires? its a rockford fosgate p250.2

also, my jl audio speakers have 2 terminals, a 2.8mm one and a 5.2mm one... which is positive and which is negative?? thanks in advance

both problems solved, but i have a much worse problem now. the new amped speakers are barely getting any signal!

i tapped the pre amp signal from the factory head and put it into an amplifier and to new speakers, but the speakers only make the SLIGHTEST noise with the gain all the way up (not static noise but the actual music from the head unit). Wondering how I would go about diagnosing this.

Car is a e36 post 98 3 series, non upgrade audio with factory amplifier. The preamp signals from the amplifier are crimped to a pre slpit rca cable (with + and negative wires for each speaker), then sent to a rockford fosgate p250.2 amplifier. the amplifier is wired to 2 jl audio speakers.

please help!

I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but you need a low level line converter (relatively cheap) or an amp with low level inputs. You can't take level inputs and wire them to RCA's and make them work.

i've fixed it since then, but i had tapped the wrong wires. it would probably have worked without LOC

Wicked, they probably would have been low level anyway since it was going to factory amp... was like 3am when I posted -.-
