| Speakers with Strong Bass ? I Have a 1992 BMW 325is and Iam not planning to buy a sub anytime soon and would rather not have one. My dilemma is finding a quality component speakers like MB Quarts, Infinity, Polk, maybe even Fosgate that produce strong bass. The amp that Im planning on buying is the Blaupunkt THA475, 75 watts RMS. Is their any speaker brands that do this? Last edited by xreed8 : 12-26-2007 at 06:55 PM. |

| Thanks! But those seem to go for way to much $$. I also looked at Focal V1 line, which were more in my price range, would they supply the same amount of bass? Also, Would the Alpine MRP F550 amp be a good choice, maybe paired with the Alpine SPR-13s speakers. Price range would be max 400$ for amp and speaker\. |

| Ok. Here is the poop. An Alpine MrpF550 with the Focal V1s. I think that is probably the best sounding $400-$500 setup you could get a hold of right now. You should be pleased. Any of the Focal speakers are very clear, with a good bass response. And Alpine can definately build some decent stuff amp wise. No on Alpine speakers though.

| Don't expect to get any real bass out of any 5 1/4" driver, its just plain physics. High levels of lower mid-bass frequencies (100-70hz) being pushed through any 5 1/4" or 6 1/2" speaker will eventually cause failure of the driver. Its like saying your 92' 325 makes 189hp... all the time. To make it do so you'd be at redline... all the time. Sure it'll do it, for a while, but YOU WILL BLOW IT UP. Do it right, buy what you can afford for speakers and amplifiers, and wait until your budget can support your bass needs. Why spend the money 2 or 3 times to do it half-assed. do it right once, ot one piece at a time until you're done.

| Well it certainly won't produce what a sub would, but to imply that 5" speakers will blow up from running 70-100hz is rediculous. The 5" K2p's will go to 70hz with no problems. No distortion, no over excursion, just good clean sound. The V1's I recomended above will play to 75hz. It won't be rear view mirror rattling, but they certainly won't blow up. On top of that, the Focal warranty is bullet proof. 3 years. So for 3 years Focal will guarantee that the K2's will play 70hz or the V1's will play 75hz, or they will replace them. Sounds good to me.

| I just got a sound system put in with speakers called "Kickers" and they are really good. Even so that they bump so much im lookin for new panels to make the car not rattle heh. =] |

| Focal is more SQ than bass. If you want alot of bass i would steer off in another direction, if your speakers are fine now, i would just go get a 10" woofer and a little amp and you'll be happy. |

| i think evan has the best idea. alpine makes a great 10" sub. the type-r's are amazing. a friend of mine has them in his 325 and it's pretty impressive. you can find them for between $150-$200. 1500 watts and 700rms. i'm getting just one of those put in my car before too long. they work great in a small box. i'm going to have the carpet done on it the same as my trunk and have it stuffed off to the left side so it doesn't take up much space. also, bevarian soundwerks offers a 6X9 conversion package for the speakers in the rear decking for about $100. i don't know what's a good 6X9, but i know that they have more bass than the stock ones

| I have a set of Boston Acoustic Pro-60s and an Alpine MRP F-600. I've never had a problem running full range to the speakers... even at high volume, they are clear with relatively tight mid-bass. Now... if I can just figure out how to get them into my e90... Id be set. I recently purchased a 2006 325i. I pulled the stereo out of my accord before trading it in. I am in the planning portion of the install on the e90. JL Audio CleanSweep Boston Acoustic Pro-60 Boston Acoustic SX-65 (rear fill) Alpine MRP-F600 (150 x 4) Alpine 1.600 Mono 600watt Apline Type-R 12" sub in custom made box Xtatic BATCAP 400 BTW, I don't want to hijack any posts but I have some questions... and it won't let me start a thread. Why? Last edited by ZedsDead : 12-23-2008 at 07:11 AM. |
