Dynaudio sperates- need some install help?

Hey guys hows it going, I have a 99 M3 with Dynaudio components installed.

I bought the car off someone but the amps that were powering the speakers were stolen, so I am now rewiring everything and I need advice on what size, and how many channel amp I need? I dont know a lot about car audio so any help would be great.


In the rear deck I have 2 MW 160 speakers.

I am not running a large subwoofer or anythin like that, just the speakers I listed in this reply. Let me know what you recomeend. I figured I would use 2- 2 channel amps maybe a 250-300 watt 2 channel up front and a 300-500 watt mp for the 2 rear speakers? Does this sound okay. I dont want to spend a arm and a leg, but I was thinking about maybe JL audio or alpine for amps.

I was also looking at the older MB Quart amps, like the Mb Quart RAA4200 4 channel 800 at amp. Would this 1 amp work well with my setup??

I don't know too much about this company, but I think for the rear fill you should look into a 2 way co-axial. I think you will be much happier with the sound quality over the mid drivers. You won't get much bass with them anyway, probably not much more than a regular mid driver on a co-axial to begin with and you will definitely notice the loss of the highs in the rear fill as well. If you are not going to go with a sub woofer you won't get bass anyways. You will hear mids and highs. I recommend a 4 channel amplifier if you go with rear co-axials. Look for something in the 70-100 watt @ 4ohm range. I think you will be much happier with that than rear mid drivers alone. I personally have Polk MMC 525 components front and Polk MMC 525 co-axials rear running off a JL Audio 300/4 and it sounds absolutely fantastic. Even though my Polk's aren't audiophile grade they still sound really good powered off the JL. I had the speakers installed at a local shop originally powered off a Kenwood KAC8402 which didn't provide enough juice or sound quality. I bought the JL Audio 300/4 on e-bay new in the box for $300. Without the sub woofer and additional equipment in my car the setup with the speakers, amplifier, power cable, ground, RCA's, and speaker wire cost me roughly $900 total with installation. I'm pretty satisfied with this setup as it is a quality sounding setup that turns heads.

Dude, You are like the POLK whore or the board!

Polk is good stuff, but what you're basically telling him he's better off pulling the motor out of Ferrari and replacing it with a turbocharged Honda motor. Sure they'll both make 600hp, but one will do a better job at it.

Dynaudio is a very well respected Ultra-high end speaker manufacturer.

The fact you do not know who they are just shows your experience in the field of mobile electronics.

1. more power to the front stage, less to the rear. (when you go to a concert is your back facing the stage?) Rear speakers provide fill, but are not supposed to be the "source" of the music.

2. Old MB Quart amps.... Are actually Rockford amps. MB Quart never made amplifiers, if they did they would have been made in Germany. Rockford used to own MB Quart and made a series of amps to exploit the MB Quart name.

(I used to be the MB Quart home Audio rep when Rockford owned them)

3. JL and Alpine are fine manufacturers. If you really want to exploit the performance abilities of the Dynaudio speakers you should be looking at a higher quality audiophile grade amplifier. McIntosh, Zapco, Audison, and even Boston Acoustics make some of the best class A/B amplifiers you can get, just maybe not afford. Anything else would and you would be doing an in-justice to those fine speakers.
