speakers?

I have a McIntosh 6 channel amp, what are the best speakers I can get? What set up should I do? crossovers or no crossovers?

First of all, you need to answer some questions before I can answer yours.

1. What is the Yr make and model of your car?
2. What are you running for a head unit?
3. What kind of music do you listen to?
4. Do you want to retain the factory appearance?
5. Do you have issues with cutting/trimming in the car, if it is done correctly?
6. How much space are you willing to sacrifice?
7. What is your ultimate goal with the system?

That being said.....

I love the McIntosh amps. The cleanest car audio amplifier you can buy, PERIOD! The only car amplifier that performs at a THD level Less than 0.005%. The only car amplifier with Power Guard, A circuit that protects your valuable speakers.

I may be biased....since I'm the New England Factory Rep for McIntosh.

Focal PolyK2's. I really don't believe there is a better speaker.

I agree they are a great speaker, however there are much better speakers, but budget gets in the way.

Ok, with the McIntosh Amp I'd expect you to want to invest in a nice set of Component speakers of equal quality.

I'd recommend the following:

Boston SPZ's et
Boston Pro's
Focal Utopia BE's
Focal PolyK2's (although I think the Pro's are a better value and are easier to install)
Hertz Mille series
Image Dynamic CS series
Rainbow Reference series
Rainbow Platinum series

I'm going to say that the Boston Pro's are the best value at $600 set.........wait, they're on close-out right now, so most of my dealers are letting them go for much cheaper, since the new Pro's will be available some time in March 08'

There was no mention of budget...thats why I suggested the K2s. ID's would be nice, as well as Rainbows, but the K2s have such a big range, and a shit ton of mid bass. If we are dealing with factory sizing/look, the K2s are going to sound 3000 times better for a smaller speaker size. Running a Mc amp with those would be quite amazing I immagine.
