| CD Deck Troubles Ok so I got my Deck installed today. The radio works fine but I am having troubles with other parts. My iPod would not work, it would bring up the Alpine logo on the iPod and I could search for songs and stuff using the deck but no audio would play. My ipod isn't on the list of compatibls, so I tried it w/ a new 5th gen video and a nano and those were doing the same thing... Then the CD player part is messed up too. I will insert a CD the right way and it will just say error. I thought it was because of burned CD's but it does it w/ a kansas cd I have too... Anybody know? It is an Alpine CDE-9881 Unit

| sounds like you have a defective cd mechanism, possibly more than that. I'd go back to where you bought it and exchange it for a new one.

| That is the problem...I bought this Deck probably last November...Was going to install it in my E21...Had to sell that. Then I just never got around to installing it in my E36 because all the wiring shit I needed. It was packed away when I moved in Late May and I just opened it and ordered all the harnesses and installed it. I have nothing for it from when I bought it but the unit, the remote, and the harness that plugs in the back. I no longer have the receipt, or box or anything else ![]()

| Most stores keep records for a few years. Assuming you gave them your info, or used a credit card there is a record. Alpine offers a one year repair warranty, so if it was bought in November, you could go back to where you bought it and they can look up your original purchase date. Big boxes (Circuit City, Best Buy) may just offer you an upgrade for a small fee to a current model. Other than that, I'd say you're SOL.

| I got the iPod part fixed...I don't care about CD's because I have my entire music collection on my iPod. I was just gonna use them until I could figure out the iPod part...I just needed to connect the Amp On Lead from the deck harness to the Power Antenna Lead from the adapter harness instead of connecting the two Power Antenna Leads together...
