| BSW Subwoofer systems? Hey guys, didn't find much through searching, but I have the stock HK system with the subs in my car right now. I was wondering how the sub packages from BSW were. I'm looking for something that will hit pretty hard if i want it to, but remain noticable when im not cranking it, or if i'm listening to something without much bass like rock. Do they provide enough bass in collaboration with sound quality? Or should I look into other subs, ie JL, Boston Acoustics, etc? Keep in mind I need some trunk space... |

I'm not a big fan of the BSW enclosures. I am biased towards Boston Acoustics (I am the New England rep for the company afterall). I'd recommend going to Boston Acoustics - Your Sound Solution , going to the dealer locator, and finding the nearest car audio dealer near you. I'd then contact them to see if they carry the G510RS or the G512RS (depending on the type of music you listen to) in our "G-Tuned" enclosure line-up. The boxes are tiny and have crazy output if you want to push them. They measure .6 cubic feet (outside measurements) and 1.1 cubic feet for the 10" and 12". They come loaded with the G5 series subwoofer. Most of my dealers claim it is the best sounding audiophile subwoofer that they have ever heard (a lot of my dealers also sell JL and Focal too) They are rebuildable if you blow it, so you'll never have to send it back for service. They include a GTR passive radiator that has 2 removable weights that can be added/removed to tune the enclosure to the music you like. You get the benefits of ported enclosure output, with sealed enclosure size and sound quality. Phil C carstereopro

| Thanks for the suggestion, I'll look into the G-Tune enclosures. Im planning on keeping the stock HK speakers and headunit(nav) too, will these have to be replaced? Also what types of music is best suited between a 12 inch and a 10? |

I recommend the Streetwires RE-Q, or a Soundgate LOCX. Both are great performers for the money, but the RE-Q has the ability to use the high frequencies as a reference so there is never too much or too little bass. It also has an excellent bass boost processor, crossover, and it generates a remote turn-on circuit. If you haven't decided on an amp yet, I'd recommend looking at the GT22 or GT24, Also from Boston Acoustics. They are Class A/B audiophile amplifiers that run at 65% efficiency (A/B usually run under 50%) and can be run into low impedance (2 ohm) mono loads. You get the advantage of class D power with class A/B accuracy and sound quality. I like the 10" for rock, metal, jazz, blues, classical, and anything else with sharp bass tones. I like the 12" for Rap, dance, country, techno, house, electronica, and anything with lots of low bass. the 10" will be sharper, tighter, and more accurate. The 12" will be boomy, play lower notes louder, and hit a lot harder.
