True, In dash media center.

What i dream about:

Flip out, since it basically has to be, wish it could be in truly indash (im talkin for E36's now.)
Touch screen, full operating XP or Vista or whatever, wireless mini keyboard, keep it in the glovebox or somethin. use it when need be)
Fast ass comp in the trunk, with plenty of periphial ports, a radar system, navigation and all that could be controlled and monitered via XP/VISTA.

Why?

Because it would be tight, play my music through an attacable 250Gig hd, via winamp, or windows media player, way better then scrolling through BS folders in ipod or what have you.

Also play movies all easy (if you have them on your PC some how.... )

And some type of wireless internet( plenty to choose from.)

Someone make it happen because i don't have time to do it for a while.

man it'd be great.

The system you are looking for isn't really that difficult though the radar I would go with a V1(hasn't failed me yet). Everything else is and has been available for a while now. I wouldn't go with vista personally because of integration issues, but to each their own.

You can pickup a mac mini with a good processor, big HD, bluetooth controls for keyboard and mouse(or wii controller) nav software is readily available. As far as the monitor goes you can relocate your OBC and run a 7" touchscreen monitor in that space or remove the radio and put a true double din in(climate controls are readily moved you just need to glass a face). Though with the Ddin I'm not familiar with computer integration with the touch screen.

Any other questions?

There are a few companies manufacturing exactly what you're looking for. I have a few dealers installing the Drivesoft and the Xenarc systems with pretty good feedback.

I'd check them out on-line, and find an authorized dealer near you for more info.

go for a micro atx... get mount that wherever u want to, either extend cd wires or get an external cd/dvd player and mount that in glovebox, use the 7" screen in the top 2 dash slots, move climate control under the clock (i love the analog clock never remove mine!) use wireless mini keyboard if u ever need that sorta thing thenrun the bitch on vista... i jus got it, loads so fast! hmm oh and when u wire it up wire the power button wires into the ignition or extend power button to center console next to cig lighter... its all actually pretty easy besides the fitting of the screen and the clean running of wires(a pro should take about 3-4hours to fit it all quickly if u do the prep work and plug all the exposed stuff urself/set up computer... this is comin from someone who sorta understands computers and knows that it will work! if you get a sound card with rca out put in ur pc then plug into amp that would be awesome... u will only need a relatively cheap pc system unless your gonna play computer games usin it(ie. no games means u can have integrated graphics or a really cheap GC, only part u should focus on is the sound card and hardrive)

I built a CarPuter in mine almost 3 years ago. The mini-ITX case is under my driver's seat. It was a cool novelty at the time, and I can still use it to play with my TEC3R or surf the web. Here are a couple old screen shots, I should take some new ones.

Awesome taste... BMW and 300ZX - couldn't have picked it much better myself!!! Is it NA or TT? I have a '90 TT 4 seater (J-Spec) with a few preformance mods and a few cosmetic mods.

It's NA, a few minor bolt-ons. It's a fun car, but not extremely fast.

Ok, I finally have a real solution to this question.

Azentek - Revolutionary Mobile Computing

A true 12V in-car computing system.

Coming March 08' a flip out 7" for those with-out a Double-Din opening.

I'm the rep for New England and I'm stoked!

Looks awesome. I just contacted them about becoming a dealer for the West coast. Definitely an improvement over the one I built a few years back.

They already have a SoCal distributor. I contacted them. I think I need one.
