ok guys, i just got my tax refund (700). Can you guys tell me what type of speakers are god for a 92 325i bmw convertible? What type of cd player looks clean on a jet black bimmer? what type of amps are good? and is there any tips you can give me so i can get the cleanest sound out of my speakers? I heard you can cut a hole in the trunk so you get the most out of your subs, does anyone know about that? and what size speakers do i need for the rear and front? if you can give me some answers i'd appreciate it.

I just do this wholesale for my e30 buds, even though I don't know ya (they finally convinced me to share my knowledge of e30's on dtm, a regular roadfly poster) I'd be more than glad to see what I can do for ya.

I have 1 12" JL W3 sub with an MTX152 amp, and I have kicked out the ski hatch boot hole, and this helps get bass into the cabin. I am running a 1 cu ft sealed box and it faces forward through the ski hole.

I have lots of bass, and it sounds really clean, which it sounds like you want that.

You can also port through the rear deck, but I found it unneccessary as I got the amount of bass I was after.

I am running 4 12" jl w7's in custom enclosures, with 4 of the new jl 500 mono amps. I knocked out the ski hatch aslo, and then went a step further. On each side I cut out another hole (total of 3 holes). I have one set facing the cab and another set facing the rear. All dyno-matted. I have my seat with some custom brackets to fold down so you can see the subs from inside the car. I cut out the spare wheel holder and made a custom amp rack under neath it that is enclosed and has 4 cooling fans sucking in cold air. I've got 4 caps, 2 optima batteries, a fully electronic crossover, a Pioneer XDV-P9 dvd player, a playstation, and the Pioneer AVM-P9000R Audio/Video controler in the trunk. Along with a 6" lcd screen showing me my diagnostics.

In the cabin I am running a Pioneer Premier deh-p930 Head Unit, a Pioneer DEQ-9200 EQ hidden in the glove box, along with all the accessories for the cd player (cell phone adapotor, voice activation, mute control etc.) I've got then 2 6" lcd screens in the cabin, 1 where each ashtray used to be. I'm then running a set of Infinity 6x9's (at the moment) in the rear deck, and Polk 6" in the front kick pannel. Got a set of dome tweaters mounted in the door. Sounds like a lot but not really. I have done all the install myself. If anyone ever has any questions let me know.

as far as head units go the best imo for both stock looks and best sound are nakamichi, i like there amps as well. i would sugest looking into them, mb quarts are my fav speaker so far allthough i like focals alot as well, for subs jl baby
