is it ok to mount a sub over the battery?

ok well i got a 12" L7 and its in a single box in the middle of my trunk taking the whole trunk up pretty much so i was thinking about making 2 fiberglass enclosures this weekend between the wheel wells and the brake lights to free up my trunk and was just curious if it would hurt the sub to be mounted above the battery. If not then im gonna go ahead and make a box on both sides and buy another L7 and most likely another amp. should i spring for a capicitor also? right now i got a 400w RMS coustic amp but im planning on buying a 600w rms alpine and eventally going dual alpines and eliminating the coustic amp. thanks.

Above the battery is fine.

Do not fire the subs directy at each other, angle them slightly up, down, or front firing so you can minimize cancellation.

Do not mix amps, even temporarily. It would be better to build the second box and wait until you can get either one big amp, or two of the same amps for the subs, befre you install the second sub.

I'd actually buy the amp/amps before I bought the second sub.

that was actually gonna be my next question lol, which would be the best direction to angle them for the best sounding bass? up? down? towards trunk? towards front of the car? and thanks for all the info i'll definetly just get the amps before the second L7. but with the 2 alpine amps and the 2 kickers should i get a 1 farrad cap?

Best sounding would be a different brand and shape of subwoofer. You didn't buy Square subs for sound quality. They're loud, and that's the only reason people buy square subs.

Excuse my venting, but I'm trying to be helpful while hiding my distaste for square subs, unsuccessfully.

Best performance would most likely be rear firing, just sound deaden your trunk first. Dynamat, Hushmat, etc..... you get the point.

You should get 1 farad for every 500watts/rms. So i'd recommend 2 Farads, one for each amp.

thanks, and yeah ive already lined my entire trunk with dynamat. only thing thats giving me troubles with rattling is the pesky push button on the trunk.
