Hey everyone I have a 6 disc CD player from an e36 and I am wondering if I can install in into an e30 325i. With the radio also, will this work?

i got a six disc changer in my e36. the six disc is made by alpine or bose, but I know mine is alpine. it will not work with your stock radio e30. why you ask? let me explain as simple as possible. your stock e30 radio does not offer the option to swith the discs around, like a button or program that can properlly direct the disc sequences. the only way it will work is if you buy a aftermaket head unit!! <--VERY IMPORTANT. you have to make sure it is COMPATIBLE with any six disc CHANGER!!! <--also important!! for example a alpine aftermarket head unit offers this option for the six disc changer but, it can be expensive. BUT!! dont forget when buying a new more updated head unit, not only will it be able to shift the discs around, it will DRAMATICLLY improve the sound quality of your whole system. aftermarket head units offer more watts per speaker with a greater sound engine (quality of sound). so if i were in your shoes id shop around the internet and do my homework. you must research as much info possible. i am going to purchase a alpine unit soon becasue i know that is the only unit that will support my six disc changer. good luck, sorry that i am telling you to spend more money OR I JUST THOUGHT OF IT!!! boy you're lucky today. you can buy a BMW HEAD UNIT!!! the same head unit in my car and im sure you can find a used ONE ON EBAY.COM, i am sure of this, check it out. look for a e36 radio or head unit. AND MAKE SURE IT HAS THE SIX BUTTONS ON THE BOTTOM OF THE UNIT. THOSE BUTTONS DIRECT THE SIX DISC CHANGER AROUND!! i found a bmw business edditoin head unit for about $70 USED versus a NEW ALPINE $550! well i just saved your wallet from hell, you're welcome. check it out, keep me updated, now im interested all of the sudden.

Thank you very much, I have a face plate or head unit, I dont know if it works or not its also from an e36. Do you think my dad working at bmw would make any difference in getting one or not? I highly doubt this one works. thnx again sry for the troubles. And one last thing, if i get the head unit do you think its going to be alot of work wiring it all back up together?

if you have any trouble trying to install a new head unit in your e30 there is this web site dedicated to manually instructing how to properly install any head unit. the web site i cannot remember exactly what its called but go to yahoo.com and type in Audio Doctor or Car Audio Doctor, this is the name of the website, the search engine results should take you from there. honestly installing a head unit is really easy so dont worry hommie. i have installed many units for my friends or at least have help them out. you may have to cut some wires and buy new adaptors that you can easily find at your local Radio Shake or any car audio dealer. again, if i were in your shoes i'd buy an aftermarket head unit because it is far better then any Auto Manufactures Stock radio, period! also, if your dad can find a e36 Six Disc Changer Head Unit and get a good deal on it, then go for it becasue it will save you more money then going with an aftermarket. the stock e36 Six disc will be an easier installation becasue it realates from the e30 german electrical system setup. well good luck, i hope this can clearify some of your issues. keep me updated.

okay, this last question limits me to your answer. it all depends on what type of (sound system) setup you want to do. if you want to go all out with aftermarket components like (speakers, subwoofers, amplifiers, head units) then i would recommend nothing but Alpine Products. but, if you want to save money and just get your six disc changer to work in your e30 check out ebay.com and type in e36 radio. i just checked out the website to see how many are avaliable and i got about 15 results! which is good. this is one of the links on ebay with a bmw e36 radio that is compatible with your six disc changer --> http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BMW-E...WDVWQQtcZphoto. this is just one of many units on ebay.com. right now i dont have enough time to show you more results but i will post you more products as soon as i get off of work. also, go to Alpine USA Distributor website. they have several head units that you can check out. i just noticed that the website i posted for you states that the head unit fits all E36 models from 95-99, this is not true. The C33 DIN head unit will fit ALL BMW's so dont worry. when i mean all, i mean the newer models from 1985-2005, okay gotta go to work

Alright I think I am jus going to go with the cheapest one first cause ima broke ass student but Im going to save for an aftermarket one, you know jus somthing to listen to, but somthing that works thnx alot man u were a big help.
