suggestions?

I'm in the market for a new head unit, but I don't know much about them and I don't know what to buy. I would like something that looks clean and is functional. Also, do you think a 15" Kicker sub would be too overpowering or would it work out ok?

First of all, what is your total budget. For head unit, amp, subwoofer, enclosure, amp wiring, radio install harness, antenna adaptor, and possibly labor.

I haven't really planned out a budget, I was just hoping not to get too carried away. I would like to spend no more than 4 or 5 hundred bucks. I already have the sub, so that will save me some money.. and I would like to do the install myself, but I'm not sure if I have the know how.

For a decent head unit, wiring accessories you should be able to safely be under $300. However, if you need an amplifier, sub box and amplifier installation wiring & accessories, you'll be lucky to be under $800 for decent equipment if purchased new, from an authorized dealer that can offer a true warranty.

My biggest recommendation is do not buy from E-Bay, since authorized dealers are not allowed to sell this way (no matter what they say, it is usually a violation of their dealer agreements)

For Head Unit I would recommend a Sony CDX-F7715X. This is a Specialty Series unit that boasts some amazing features for the money. They are going for $280-300 in authorized dealer's stores. PM me for a deal.
