| When i had an e36 coupe i removed the stock 4" speakers and there box from the parcel shelf. you end up with a hole that is a perfect size for a 6x9. all you need to do is make a mounting board under that hole and seal the edges. JL also make a stealthbox for the e36 (http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_s...4&model_id=140) that works well. Having a full on sub box in the boot should work fine as the seats are not that thick but you could just remove the shelf speakers and keep the holes empty (but keep the grill for the look). |

What you have done is "loaded" the subs into what is basically a 5th order bandpass environment. The cut-through into the cabin is the equivenant to the mouth of the "port", the sub box acts as the acoustic suspension enclosure, and the remaining trunk space acts as the port itself. This type of setup is hit or miss, if done right, it sounds killer, (as you have done), if volumes are miscalculated or coincidentally built to the wrong specs, the subs will either sound like crap, or the power handleing of the subs will fall through the floor at the enclosure's tuning frequency. Basically, you could get lucky and it'll sound great, or unlucky and you'll blow subs often.

| Ok I need more info....any subs you hook up(correctly that is)should make a noticeable difference immediately...regardless of the metal plate between the backseat and trunk.....how many watts RMS will your amp push to each channel? For that matter how many channels is the amp? That Hertz/Focal(elettromedia) speaker data is: Größe 380 mm (15") Wirkungsgrad 98 dB/SPL Belastbarkeit 1200 W Max. - 600 W RMS Impedanz 4 Ohm Schwingspulendurchmesser 75 mm (and it IS a free-air 15") They no longer make this speaker: ![]() ..the new one looks like this ![]() .........anyway a 15" inch woofer facing back or forward is not going to be stopped by some sheetmetal....esp. not a Hertz subwoofer(Focal for you stateside folks...)

Most of the US hasn't even heard of Hertz yet. I am a manufacturer's representative for a few companies you may have heard of in Europe, lol, like Boston Acoustics, Sony Mobile, Mitek Corp (made up of MTX Audio, Xtant, Coustic, Streetwires), Autopage, Soundgate and Pontus (Hyundai Autonet). I have friends who are the Hertz Reps in the Los Angeles market, and they've sent me all the info on the product line. They wanted me to take th eline on to rep in the northeastern part of the US. As far as I knew Hertz was a division of Audison, I didn't know there was an affilliation w/Focal.

| They all fall under Elletromedia if I am not mistaken......that would be great to have a rep in the Northeast.....Hertz and Audison are more like a "boutique" style company....(dont know if the analogy holds up) in that they dont even attempt to sell by volume but more by quality and word of mouth....some of the best equipment out there IMHO.... p.s. whose breasts are those?@carstereopro
