| jl audio stealth boxes These look like nice units that go in the trunk under the parcel shelf. No cutting or drilling. 4in woofers. Anyone ever try these and do they have good tight bass. And how do the 4in component units sound in the kick panels? |

| You are slightly mistaken. Stealthbox's have 8" woofers. They replace the stock POS rear speakers. Unless you like to cut holes in your car to port a sub from the trunk, ( these cars are really built like a tank) they provide good bass. Not pounding, smash out the windows, scare women and small children bass, but a good sound.

| I'm using an Alpine V12 T 1000 2 channel amp bridged to mono. I think it's about 500W

| These replace the rear speaks???? I thought they mounted below them? If these 8in subs replace the 5 1/4s where are all the mids comming from? WOuldnt the 8in jls give your car just high and lows with no mids??

| no no no the 8 insubs just give lows no mid and no highs. The mids come from your 4 in kick panel speakers and your highs from your door panel speakers. you have two in the door a tweeter and one slightly bigger. If anyone knows of a good speaker for the slightly bigger one I would like to know. |

| I know mids and highs dont come from the 8in JLs, just the lows. What i am asking is where my mids are going to come if the JLs "replace" the factory rear deck speakers. I dont have any kick panel speaks....at least i dont think. I have the 2 in each door and 2 in the rear deck for my M3 coupe.

| Im not familiar with m3 speaker plcement, but if you dont have kick panel speakers you are going to need something else other than your door panel speakers to cover the frequency's that the subs dont. |

| Wow, how long have you owned your M3? You have 10 speakers in your car. 2 5 1/4's in the front kick panel 2 somekind if medium speaker 3 -4 in the mid door 2 1" tweeters in the upper door That's the front each rear speaker boxes contains: 4'low range and a 1" tweeter In my car, the JL's replace the rear boxes, powered by the T 1000 ( 300 W/ch RMS) The fronts are MB Quart 215.03 seperates. A 5 1/4 in the kick panel, and a 1" tweeter in the door. These are powered by an Alpine V12 MRV-F-400 Bridged (100 W/ch RMS)using the MB Quart crossovers... Sooo the front speakers are the highs and mids, and the JL's handle the lows.

| Allright think you very much. The speakers that are down by my feet i have never noticed. I thought they were at first but never heard sound comming out of them. I dunno but i guess your are right. I installed my mb quart 3way componets and now i need to finish it off. Thanks for your help. On the JLs, how do they sound....I think they would give good bass cause they are going right into the cabin. Will it give a good hit? I dont want to be thumpin around but i want sound quality.

| They sound pretty good. I had a 12" JL sub in a sealed box in the trunk. The bass was muted due the the stout build quality of the car. (it's a tank) About the only recourse would be to port a sub through the rear deck, but I wasn't into cutting extra holes in the car. Besides, the stealtboxs freed up a LOT of room in the trunk. What with the JC CAI, Chip, EHFM... it really only sounds good sitting still. ![]()
