| X50 passport 8500 vs. valentine 1 Which is has better range. there are all kindof reviews out there but obviously they are biased. I live in Ca where the cops use the laser guns instead of radar, how efficent will the x50 be compared to the valentine 1? I knwo the v1 has arrows and people love that, but i just need somethign that will inform me in more then 5-10 secs time possably even a quarter mile thank, Todd |

| I have the V1, and I love the arrows. One of my good friends swears by the X50 though. I would say that there both good, but I think the arrows is a big help. My buddy that has the X50 also has lazer jammers. That is worth the money, and a must have. Escort sells the one that he has and its wonderful.

| VALENTINE ONE!! The Valentine One is worth every penny you pay for it and this is why: 1)V1 detects LA laser gun in stealth mode, the 8500 X50 & RX65 do not. 2)V1 detects instant on radar using the quick trigger 100% of the time, the 8500X50 detected it only 56% of the time. Go to http://www.jammertests.com/page/page/1904719.htm and watch the videos of radar detectors/laser jammers in action. This is the testing of the X50 and the Rx65 using the super fast Z-35 POP radar gun: http://www.laserjammer.citymax.com/f...0_POP_test.wmv The X50 detected POP 0 out of 10 times. http://www.laserjammer.citymax.com/f...5_POP_test.wmv The Rx65 detected POP 0 out of 10 times. Also check out these videos of the X50 and Rx65 not doing so well with laser detection. http://www.laserjammer.citymax.com/f...n_test_JTW.wmv http://www.laserjammer.citymax.com/f...tion_video.wmv The Valentine One also beats every radar detector by 2-3 miles in rear Ka band detection and 1/2 mile in X and K band rear detection because the V1 is the only radar detector that has 2 antennas. This is the last test they did on rear radar detection: ![]() Check out this video of the V1 during a Ka speed trap at night: http://www.kc8unj.com/radar/BiGeAsYgUy/movie.wmv Main Differences between the V1 and X50: V1 Black Magnesium, X50 Silver Plastic V1 2 antennas, X50 1 antenna V1 9 bogies, X50 8 bogies V1 arrows, X50 no arrows V1 detects laser from 1/4 mile away when vehicle in front shot, X50 doesn't V1 Real concealed display, X50 has "dumbcord" V1 comes with visor mount and hardwire kit, X50 doesn't V1 makes only one radar detector, Escort makes any kind you want depending on how much money you want to spend. V1 chosen #1 by most high performance car sites by 70% to X50 30% V1 best resale value and has been #1 for 13 years, X50 NOT This is why the V1 is worth more and is more expensive. As far as size differences, the Valentine One, 16.2 cu. in., is smaller than the Escort X50, 18.95 cu. in., and the Bel RX65, 16.32 cu. in. The Valentine is wider because of the 2 antennas, but the X50 is longer and higher which gives you less mounting options. The Valentine One only weighs 6.4 oz. which is less than the X50 and the RX65. Last edited by RaDaRkInG : 07-05-2005 at 12:41 PM. |

| I own one, Its Version 1.7. I Love the arrows, and yes I have lived without them and I wont go back. I used to own a Bel 740 a while back. One other thing wasnt mentioned: the V1 has the return policy when new/better versions come out. |

| One more vote for the V1. Where possible it comes travelling with me. It's always nice, picking up the bounces off vehicles up ahead out on mostly open highways. You never know when someone's going to try ticket you because your car looks like you're a speeder... By the way, a normal remote control can set off the V1's laser detector. So after you pick a good spot for your detector, turn it on, turn it up, roll down the windows and see how far it'll pick up a wimpy little remote. Now you too can see if your blue window stripe makes any difference. |

| I can vouch for Viago's V1. Saw something hitting the X band I think, aggressively slowed down. 10 seconds later, a stater passes us going the other direction.
