Rule #1 in retail, Never talk bad about any product you sell. Rule #2 Always express your negative opinions with a IMO tag, just to cover your ass.. Rule #3 Be careful what you say and to who, you never know where you'll end up in the future, and what will come back to burn you. I am the New England Manufacturer's rep for Sony Mobile. First, let me start out by saying that Best Buy does not get the high end Sony product (called the Specialty Series). I would agree with your statement about Sony speakers not sounding good if you were referring to the coaxes from two years ago. But the last 2 years (since the redesign) they sound really good FOR THE MONEY. The Specialty Series equipment is another story, They sound great, and I have dealers through out New England that sell the Sony speakers 2 to 1 versus Pioneer, Alpine, and Kenwood speakers. Just so you know, A top notch installer can make almost any manufacturer's equipment sound good in almost any installation. I'd never install a set of speakers with out sound deadening material. One reason they don't sound good in Best Buy is due to the Sound Rooms. In a vehicle with a good installation and proper power, they sound great. As far as the: Quote:
So don't blame it on the Sony engineer, but Best Buy's corporate infrastructure for wanting and selling entry level product instead of pushing high margin, high quality product that lasts forever and actually makes buyers feel good about their purchase. I hope that Jerry doesn't know how you feel about Sony. Jerry is the MD Rep for Sony Mobile.

| umm, no he's not goin to scare me, so ur saying ucan make n e speaker sound good hmm, so a "Daul" brand can sound as good as a "sony", and a "sony" can sound as good as "boston acoustic" i find that very hard to believe, but sinceim in the class of SPL it really doenst matter that much, i just dont favor sony, IMO they suck ass and MIGHT be good for the money, but as i recall in our store, pioneer is the same price, i'll sell those instead...

Second, I said almost any equipment. And yes, given the proper installation equipment, airspace, power, crossover's, and my knowledge, I can make a Sony Coaxial sound like a Boston Acoustic Coaxial, "within reason". Its impossible to make something what it is not. But a good installer can make a $69.00 speaker sound similar to a $150.00 speaker with proper installation. I'm not claiming I can make a Dual 3 1/2" speaker sound like a BA Pro 6 1/2" component. But if you don't compare apples to apples, and oranges to oranges, thats a different story. I hope you don't plan on making a career out of being in the Mobile Electronics field with the attitude and knowledge you've aquired, because you've already reached your peak. I wonder why anyone buys anything from Best Buy with such tactful and openminded salespeople like you. Someone once told me, "an open minded person will try to learn something new everyday and use it to better himself, A closed minded person stays in his own little world and will go nowhere in life." That person was a Manufacturer's Rep, like me, six years ago, now he is responsible for all Alpine Electronics sales East of the Mississippi, including Best Buy stores.

| Welp, Back on topic..... ![]() I had the 6.5" Kappa components installed in my doors. They sound GREAT. Perfect mid-bass, perfect highs, and they're CLEAR as crystal. I just need to AMP them now. I'm only running them off the HU for right now. Anyway... carry on. -Matt |

| I had a 760W Sony Xplod amp with a 12" Sony sub in the trunk. I had the Sony 6.5" door speakers in. I think I paid $350 (CAN) with the JVC deck. For a starter sound system it sounded great and pounded plenty. I've recently sold it and moved on to better things, I now have 6.5" Memphis Audio M Class door speakers with crossovers. 6"x9" Memphis Audio Power Reference rear speakers, and in the truck I have 2 10" Memphis Power Reference subs with a dual ported box. The subs aren't powered at the moment but I will be buying the Memphis Audio M Class Belle amp. It's a 4x75W and 1x1000W amp.. The thing is the king of all amps, when I get that in I'll be very happy. I'll power both the door speakers and the 6x9's as well. I guess you could say I like Memphis Audio! You should check them out. |

| If you've got the money, get Focal Utopias, not sure if they still make them. If they dont, get the Focal Poly K2's. I have Utopias in my car, and they sound INCREDIBLE!!!

Manufacturers do not allow authorized 12volt dealers to warranty equipment sold over the internet. Professional installation is required by an authorized dealer in order to get the full warranty.

| sometimes u take the risk...but there are many reliable ebaystores out there that issue warranties and what not...paypal also provides insurance. ebay isnt as risky as some people think it to be. In terms of professional installation...that one can sacrifice if he knows what he's doing. |

| All I am saying is that there are no "authorized" internet dealers for most manufacturers. So how can they offer a warranty. here's a few examples: http://www.jlaudio.com/internetsales.html http://www.mtxaudio.com/caraudio/ConsumAl.cfm Paypal insurance only covers the item until it is in your hands, then you have to take up issues with the seller/manufacturer. Ebay isn't too risky, but you have to remember one thing that applies to everything, "you always get what you pay for"....afterall, isn't that why we drive BMWs?
