Amps and Batteries

Is it true that amps, even when the car is off, are always draining power from the battery? I heard this is true if the amps are wired for power directly off the battery. If so, and an alarm was running off it also, how long would the battery last if the car was just parked in a garage not being run? Thanks for any help I can get on this!

um... tell whoever told you that that they are dumb.

the amp is off unless it has 12+ at the remote turnon terminal.

the power to that is supplied by the headunit.
