My e30 sound system (pictures & info)

Well almost everything is completed, only a few small things left. I want to get a new headunit (Nakamichi CD-700 or 400) and I need to run 3 pairs of RCA's back from the headunit.

Here is a quick technical layout diagram.

The system consists of:

Alpine CDM-9803 headunit

RTC 19 - MB Quart Neo Tweeter
RWC160 -6.5 MB Quart Midbass Driver
Custom kickpanels to mount the 6.5's
JL Audio 250/1 Amp
JL Audio 300/4 Amp
JL Audio 10W3v2 subwoofer - dual 4Ω
Custom rear deck with aeroport exit
False panel to hide wiring and box
Completely custom made enclosure for subwoofer (1.5 Cu.Ft port tuned to 30Hz)

Wiring from the 300/4 to the speakers is 16ga.
Wiring from the 250/1 to the 10W3v2 is 12ga
Wiring (power/ground) to the amps is 4ga. No inline fuses. Gold plated terminals at the battery and at the ground point. Ground wire is 6 inches long to termination on the body.

I like the trunk setup. Very clean!

Question....

Why are the interior vents deleted from the dash? looks a bit odd. I'm sure there's a reason.

My AC along with many other features I find to be useless extra weight were removed... to reduce useless weight. The panels are just temporary fillers until I decided on whats going in thier place.

Thats a good way to do it. Have you removed the rear seats permanatly or just for the pic? I have a similar sub set up. Except I have 3. Same cut out in the middle with small cut outs on each side. That rear seat is pretty heavy so I need to figure out how to cover the rear without adding weight.

The seat was out because I was securing the subbox. See those 2 huge lag bolts to the sides of the sub? Just happened to take a picture while I was there. I have a e30 M3 rear seat, its about 22lbs.

yeah you have, I was one of the feature cars. Parked closest to the bush if I recall at the end of the row.

I might not be living on the west coast by next years picnic.

I might be moving in March. Don't know for sure yet.

There was no audio system to see at the picnic. All the stock radio wiring was removed from the cars harness. Just a gapping hole in the dash.

4 days before the show the car was coming out of the paint booth. This is what the car looked like 4 days prior to the show.

I only had myself to put the car back together, and I was also working 8-10hr days during those 4 days... just wasnt much time heh.
