whats the consensus on TV, navi, statelite TV, dvd player, and woofers in the car???

Im about to pull the trigger. Less than $3 grand out the door.
Should i do it?? For those of u who have TVs, do u really get to use it often?? Talk me in or out of it please.

TV in the car to me sounds like a pointless idea, you get fairly limited fun on watching something on a 7" screen. Also, DVD player in the car - If you're travelling the odds are you sleep in a hotel, and I'm sure the hotel has TV's w/ DVD players

What are the laws like in the US regarding the use of TV's in the car? Here we're not allowed to have them visible to the driver..

TV in the car is pointless, therefore making a DVD pointless. Your car is for driving and keeping your eyes on the road... So drive it man!

If you normally have passengers in the car and if you drive a lot then you'll prolly get some use out of it, but I think most people just get them so they can say they have one. Personally, I'de rather have a Navigation system, a nice MP3 player, and some good speakers.

...but do whatever you wanna do. If you think you'll like it, go for it?

I got a 7" custom screen in my dash with a dvd player in the glove box, I burn DVDs with music videos and I play those, I only got it cause it was a gift, but I am really glad I did. I am looking to add a navigation system to it. I think it kind of modernizes the car.

Satellite Radio and Satellite TV are going to be huge soon.. On-demand services will be available to your car, video walkman, and even your cell phone.. So either wait it out a year or so, or jump in and get whatever you need to add on the on-demand later

I'd rather buy things for my car to make it faster and handle better. For the price of a good ICE system I could have a euro M engine six speed tranny and a slew of ground control items, BMW's were made to go not to be a home theater and game room, they didn't even have cup holders till Americans started to complain and IMO thats how it should stay

I'm not a big fan of tv/dvds in cars. People put it just to say they have it, like some just mentioned. But, I do like a good navigation system and sound system. Spend the money on good speakers and maybe Sirius or XM. The rest on goodies to make ur car fast and nimble. I used to own a VW Corrado and wasted alot in the sound system rather than concentrating with the performance. Cant say that with my BMW now

Depending on what kind of driving you do, I'd get the navi and the XM radio. Everything else is just dead weight.

Ebay Ebay Ebay. I'm just about to win a 12 W6v2 with box for $336. 500/1 amp for 150ish...haven't bid yet making sure I win the sub first.

I would go JL all the way. JL Audio components and co-axils. XR-TR the ZRs are damn expensive. 300/4 amp to the Highs/Mids (TVs I have no clue) But I would get the Pioneer AVIC-N1, Navi-DVD-MP3-Engine Dyagnostics(SP)-Rearview camera. $2,000ish

You can get good deals on Ebay, but you are missing some key things:

1. No Warranty, Period! (there is not one manufacturer who will honor a warranty on equipment purchased on E-bay, no matter what the seller says. )
2. Customer service (have an issue, you're usually screwed)
3. Tech Support/Install (not available)
