| Is amp strong enough? I just bought a JL 1000/1 class d mono amp to power my 2 JL 12w6 v2's. Is it strong enough to power the 2 subs? Also, i heard that its not wise to mess with the stock speakers in an m5 since its all fiber optic, will buying a 500 watt amp for the speakers make them any clearer/louder? Im just trying to get rid of the crackling/popping i get in them when i have the speakers up loud. Thanks ![]()

| amp The 1000/1 should be able to push those subs with no problem. I've got a 1000/1 for my 10W7 and it sounds awesome. Might be a good idea to invest in a capacitor though, that amp draws a lot of juice. Trev |

| Heres another thing... Since i have a sedan, will i be getting enough sound from my trunk to the rest of the car? My trunk is completley sealed off from the rest of the car. How much sound from the subs will be lost?

| Should i mess with the door speakers, or any other speakers for that matter? I mean, i dont want to change the head unit, since its the wide screen navication. Is it possible to take all the bass out of the speakers by installing a bass level controller, and crontroll the subs with that? Or should i just buy new speakers and power them 500 watt jl amp?

| Personally, I'd replace the factory speakers. Most all factory speakers are crap when compared to aftermarket speakers. I'd recomend JL's XR speaker line. If you also want a JL amp to power your interior speakers get the 300/4 (75x4). It has internal crossovers that will allow you to trun down the bass to your interior speakers. The JL 500/1 is a sub amp, it won't work for interior speakers. BTW, I beleive you need a special tool to remove the door cover (to change the speaekrs) on newer BMWs. I'm not sure though, might want to check with a local stereo shop to be sure. And like Billan said, invest in some Dynamat to stop any trunk rattling. |

| Now, i have the GPS navigation and a 6 disc changer in my trunk. My subs wont mess any of that up, will they?

| My changer has never skipped becasue of heavy bass. I imagine it could make it skip, but the volume would have to be pretty loud. As long as the changer isn't mounted to the sub box I think you'll be ok. I'm not sure how BMW's GPS works...not sure if they use a CD or DVD-ROM like Alpine or if it just downloads info straight from the sat. Might want to check the owners manual, it should tell you. Unless you take your car to a SPL compition I think you'll be ok. |
