Did my amp die?

Today I turned on my cd player like I usually do when I embark on a journey in the car. As soon as my cd player comes on, I first hear a loud popping noise and then a second sound that sounds like record scratching (rrrrrrr). Then comes a metallic-burning smell followed by smoke from my amp.
I turned the car off and checked my trunk. All connections are fine. No fuses have been blown; none in the amp and none anywhere else.
Music still plays from the car speakers, but no bass. The light that indicates the amp being on/off does not come on at all.
It's always been fine. I've had the same amp and subwoofer combo for the past 3 years. I've never had any problems. Just all of a sudden my amp won't turn on.

What happened? Thanks to anyone in advance that can help diagnose this problem.

well if the light doesnt come on it means that theres no power to it, check ur wires u might have burned threw the power cord, and if thats fine then check all the fuses again sometimes u miss some, and if there all fine then id say u need a new amp my friend.
