| I just installed an alpine CDA-9835, you'd be extremily pleased if you end up getting this (or any of the 2004 CDA units, 35 being the highest with the biolite display and MOSFET 60x4 amp.)
It has 512 colors for the buttons, amber matches BMW perfectly, the center buttons have 4 color options, the "amber" option also matches perfectly. The 9835 is the only one in the series to have a black faceplate, which also matches well. The sleeve that comes with this unit CLICKED into place inside the console without any bending of the mounting pieces (or screws.) It also plays mp3s/cds, has an amazing v-drive MOSFET 60x4 amp in it, has the ability to control up to 8 additional external Alpine V12 amps (and monitor temperatures) and has 4V pre-outs for subs etc.. If you are keeping your stock trunk amp, you should wire it up to your amp in the head unit anyways (the trunk amp requires more then the 4V RCA outputs can give.) Just turn down the output of the internal amp with the built in crossover (I did -10db) and it works fine, sounds amazing. If you want better speakers... or a better external amp, good luck. You'll need to buy 3-way crossovers for the front and 3-way component speakers if you want to use the stock mounting points, I'd say keep the speakers and throw in a nice sub system.
