Focal Speakers

Hey guys. I just got my first listen of Focal Speakers and I must say that they sound amazing!!!! Wow. I am really really impressed. The thing is, I don't think that I can afford the upper series that they carry. So, my question is, what do you guys think of the Polyglass Series and the Access Series? What other speakers/brands should I listen to that are comparable?

Also, I have a 4dr e36. In terms of speaker placement, should I place the 5 1/4" speaker in the kick panels and the tweeter . . . well, where should I put the tweeter? In the doors?

What amp should I get to power these? Are Audison amps good?
And, sorry for the long post . . . but what do you guys think of Concept Audio (speakers and amps)?

Depends on how much youre looking to spend, Boston Acoustics have really nice sound anywhere from about $300 up to $1000. You didnt specify a price on the focal speakers youre referring too but I'm assuming youre talking about the $1400 ones. I have a pair of 5 1/4 JL XR650's that run around $250-$300 but they sound great considering I didnt want to spend around a grand just for my mids. The tweeters usually sound best mounted on the door panel close to the dash. Depending on what speakers you buy, and what kind of head unit youre running, you may not need an amp to power your speakers Unless youre running 3 or more subs or a W7 or if you feel your bass is droning out the highs and mids in your music. If you think one is neccessary, if youre going to be powering 4 speakers with it, 2 mids and 2 rears, then get a 4 channel amp supplying around 200-300 watts. Thats 50-75 watts per speaker. But if youre only going to be powering the mids in the front then get a 2 channel amp from 80-120 watts. Or an amp that fits the NOMINAL watt rating for the speakers youre buying.

I had a set of the Focal Poly-k speakers and they were amazing. If you dont want to buy those then I would definatly recomend the Polyglass series. The JL 300/4 is a great amp to power the focals. I have a JL 300/4 for sale if you are interested. PM me.

Focal makes some of the best car and home audio speakers out... I have used them for years in my car and truck... I would go with the Polyglass over the Access series... They sound a lot better! Audison amps are very good also... Put the two of them in your ride and you cant go wrong...
