| Mb Quart are really good, but you saying you want the best sound quality then look at ads. The Quarts sound great but the tweeters are titanium so the highs are way to bright in the other hand the ads tweeters are silk dome so they are much softer and smoother. Since I bought my first pair I have been convinced they are the best. They aren't cheap though 5 1/4's are a bought $500 a set.

| I agree with the car guy Focal are also great speakers, and I also agree that you should focus more attention on your front speakers than your rears. I am currently running just kick panels and a sub in my E36 and it sounds amazing.

| thanks for the info everyone. you guys mentioned that it's more important to upgrade the front speakers first? why is it? I thought it was better to upgrade the rear speakers? I just thought it was better since most of the time the rears are louder then the front? can you guys clear me up on my confusion? your help is greatly appreciated. thanks once again

| Rear speakers screw up your imaging and soundstage. Buy a good set of comps and a good amp, and dont even use your rears. I have mine turned off. It will take you a couple weeks to get used to, but once you do, you will never go back. Go to a couple of high end home audio shops and listen to some really expensive speakers with some kind of acoustic style music....like jazz, or something with female vocals. This will give you an idea of what imaging and soundstage are, and then try to incorporate that into your vehicle with you comp set. Play around with different mounting locations and what not to find the best sound. Generally the best sound is the kickpanels, because in that location, the speakers on both the left and right side of the car are almost the same distance or pathlength to your ears. I have a small car though, and there was no room in the kickpanels, so I mounted the mids low in the doors, and the tweeters are in the sail panels, firing towards the windshield. The tweeters are off axis, but the sound bounces of the glass, and is pretty good imaging.... Much better than if I fired the tweeters towards me.

| Focals are hands down some of the best car audio speakers out there. IMO I don't think it gets better than Focal Utopia Component Speakers just such a rich warm sound without being too bright. The general public has never heard of Focal too which is also a positive feature in my mind. If you have the money get focals if not then save up.

| you guys know any car audio places in the bay area where I could get some focal or mb quart speakers? Also which model of speakers should I be looking for? I checked out some eclipse speakers at good guys and they sound pretty good 3 way speakers with 80 watts power handling.
